Andy Serkis directs Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, a new take
on the Jungle Book stories by Rudyard Kipling (unrelated to Disney’s 2016
version and its forthcoming sequel). Alongside Rohan Chand in the lead role, Mowgli features a star-studded voice
cast, including Christian Bale as Bagheera, Cate Blanchett as Kaa, Benedict
Cumberbatch as Shere Khan, and Andy Serkis as Baloo.

With Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Sony
Pictures Animation breaks into the multiverse. The movie stars Shameik Moore as
Miles Morales, the Spider-Man of an alternative Marvel universe. Miles is busy
juggling high school with his superhero alter ego, but when he meets Peter
Parker—the original Spider-Man—he discovers a much more complicated world.

Roma tells
the story of a family and housekeeper who live in middle-class, 1970s Mexico
City. The movie is a passion project of master director Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity, Children of Men, Y Tu Mamá También), who wrote, directed, and
produced it.
THE MULE

The Mule
tells the story of Earl Stone (Clint Eastwood), an aging World War II veteran
who, confronted with financial troubles, goes to work as a mule for a Mexican
drug cartel. Meanwhile, DEA Agent Colin Bates (Bradley Cooper) sets out to
track Earl down and bring him to justice. Clint Eastwood also directs.

In Mary Poppins Returns, Emily Blunt brings Julie Andrews’ iconic
character back to the big screen. The Banks children from the original have
grown into adults (Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer) with children of their own, but
when things take a turn for the worse, their magical, flying nanny comes to
their aid one more time. Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton: An American Musical) co-stars as a friendly lamplighter.

Aquaman
introduces audiences to a new corner of the DC comic book universe: the watery
realm of Atlantis. The movie sees Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Jason Momoa) struggle
against a confederation of foes for his birthright: the throne of Atlantis. Aquaman could easily go either way—DC
movies have certainly landed on both sides of the spectrum—but it should at
least be worth keeping an eye on.

Deadpool fans might
want to take notice of Once Upon a
Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Fred Savage (the kid from The Princess Bride) as himself. But the
movie isn’t exactly new—it’s a new version
of Deadpool 2, re-cut to earn a more
kid-friendly PG-13 rating, with the addition of a frame device in which
Deadpool reads the events of the movie to Fred Savage, Princess Bride-style.

that brought you the big-screen adaptation of The Lord of the Rings and The
Hobbit comes Mortal Engines,
based on Philip Reeve’s novel. The movie takes place in a post-apocalyptic
future in which major cities travel from place to place on giant wheels. In the
new London, Hester (Hera Hilmar) and Tom (Robert Sheehan) are thrown together
after they get on the wrong side of a powerful enemy, Thaddeus Valentine (Hugo
Weaving).
