Erased, based on the memoir of the same name. It follows Jared Eamons, a
young gay man enrolled in a gay conversion therapy program after being outed to

Overlord
is a science fiction horror film set during World War II and produced by J.J.
Abrams. The ensemble cast plays a group of soldiers dropped into German
territory ahead of D-day. Behind enemy lines, the soldiers stumble upon the
results of terrifying Nazi experiments.

FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD

The Crimes of Grindelwald is the second movie in the Fantastic Beasts series and the tenth in the overarching Wizarding World franchise (which
includes the Harry Potter series).
After notorious dark wizard Grindelwald escapes custody, Hogwarts professor
Albus Dumbledore, hero Newt Scamander, and their allies face new threats on all
sides. Together, they must work to thwart Grindelwald’s plans and bring him to
justice.

Neeson) in a failed heist. Under intense pressure, Veronica puts together a new
group—the widows of all the killed robbers—to finish the job. Widows’ ensemble cast includes Michelle
Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Erivo, Colin Farrell, Brian Tyree Henry,
Daniel Kaluuya, Jon Bernthal, Robert Duvall, and more.

Willem Dafoe stars as
Vincent van Gogh in At Eternity’s Gate,
a movie about the time leading up to the master painter’s death in 1890. Mads

THE BALLAD OF BUSTER SCRUGGS

Netflix’s The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, directed
by Joel and Ethan Coen, originated as an anthology mini-series but was later
reimagined as a single anthology film. Each of the movie’s six stories take
place in the wild west and star prominent actors like Tim Blake Nelson, James
Franco, Liam Neeson, or Brendan Gleeson. Along with Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma (releasing in December), The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is
garnering major awards buzz for Netflix this year.

RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET

Wreck-it Ralph (John C.
Reilly) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) return in Ralph Breaks the Internet. Years after the events of Wreck-It Ralph, Vanellope’s game gets
unplugged and deactivated. To find a solution, Ralph and Vanellope search a new
source: the world wide interweb. In addition to the cast members from the
original film, Taraji P. Henson, Gal Gadot, Bill Hader, and Alfred Molina join.

Michael B. Jordan plays
the titular character in Creed II,
the sequel to the 2015 film and the eighth Rocky
film overall. The movie follows Creed, his girlfriend (Tessa Thompson), and his
mentor Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) as Creed prepares for a fight with the son of
Ivan Drago.

GREEN BOOK

Green Book
tells the story of Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali), a pianist, and Tony Lip Vallelonga
(Viggo Mortenson), a man who agrees to drive Don around the South on tour.
Although the two initially clash, their shared experiences on the road help
them develop a surprising bond. The movie’s title refers to The Negro Motorist Green Book, a guidebook
for African Americans navigating racist obstacles on Jim Crow era roadways.

In The Favourite, the latest release from the prestigious Fox
Searchlight Productions, Olivia Coleman plays the eccentric Queen Anne, the
monarch of England in the early 1700s. Sarah Churchill (Rachel Weisz) enjoys the
Queen’s attention and admiration… until her cousin (Emma Stone) arrives and
begins to chip away at their relationship. Madness ensues.

SHOPLIFTERS

The Japanese film Shoplifters, directed by
Hirokazu
Kore'eda, debuted at Cannes Film Festival and won the top prize, the Palme d’Or.
It follows the Shibata family, whose poverty causes them to resort to
shoplifting to make ends meet. After they stumble upon a homeless girl named
Yuri, they decide to take her in.

IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK

Moonlight director
Barry Jenkins directs If Beale Street
Could Talk, an adaptation of James Baldwin’s novel. The movie centers around
Tish Rivers (KiKi Layne) and her fiancé Fonny Hunt (Stephan James). Their
relationship is interrupted by Fonny’s wrongful arrest, after which point it
becomes Tish’s mission to secure his release.

ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE

Anna and the Apocalypse is both a zombie movie and a Christmas musical, and that’s pretty much all you need to
know. It’s directed by John McPhail and written by Ryan McHenry and Alan
McDonald, and early reviews indicate that it’s just as awesome as you’re
imagining.

Early reception
indicates that Bohemian Rhapsody, the
upcoming biopic about Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, is sort of a
disappointment. But it’ll probably still be worth seeing for Rami Malek’s
genuinely uncanny transformation into Mercury and some fun recreations of Queen
classics.
